Introduction to BUTTERFLIES, BEES, AND HUMMINGBIRDS
The object of Butterflies, Bees, and Hummingbirds is
to fly a butterfly, bee, or hummingbird to the correctly
numbered flower. Children fly the butterfly, bee, or
hummingbird by using the cursor arrow keys, the mouse, or
for the first two levels by pressing the number keys on the
keyboard. Young children will find using the cursor arrow
keys easier than the mouse at first. If using a mouse, the
child must press a mouse button to select a flower.
Success routines are different for the butterfly, bee, and
hummingbird. After successfully flying to all the numbered
flowers, the butterfly flies to a leaf and lays eggs. A
caterpillar then emerges, climbs a tree, and spins a cocoon.
The success routine for the bee is flying back to its hive.
The hummingbird flies back to its nest. Parents can
readily customize the program to the ten different levels
of learning. Below is a list of skills that Butterflies,
Bees, and Hummingbirds helps your child master.

INFORMATION ABOUT PLAYING BUTTERFLIES, BEES, AND HUMMINGBIRDS
A garden full of flowers has numbered flowers scattered
across it. Numbered Flowers are scattered across the screen.
The child should fly the butterfly, bee, or hummingbird to
the correctly numbered flower. The child flies the butterfly,
bee, or hummingbird using the four cursor arrow keys or the
mouse. Young children will find using the cursor arrow keys
easier at the first. If using a mouse, the child must press
a mouse button to select the correctly numbered flower. If
using levels 1, 2, or 10, the child can just press the correct
number key and the butterfly, bee, or hummingbird will
automatically fly to the correct flower.

CHANGING OPTIONS
The child or parent can change levels and numerals for
the program. If the child does not change the level, the
program level will remain the same until changed. If the
operator is working with the network version, changing the
level at one workstation will change the level for the whole
network.
Step 1. When the operator is in control of the
butterfly, bee, or hummingbird, hold the CTRL key down and
then press the O key to enter into the option's operation
(CTRL-O).
Step 2. The operator should highlight the specific
level using the arrow keys or the mouse, then press the Enter
key or a mouse button. Or the operator can simply press the
appropriate number key.
Step 3. (Only for Level 3, 4, 5 or 6) The operator
should highlight the specific level for the highest counting
number using the arrow keys or the mouse, then press the Enter
key or a mouse button. Or the operator can simply press the
appropriate number key.

For Sound Blaster and compatibles make sure the I/O

use during normal operation. Check your sound board manual
for compatibility directions.
